About this site
Hi! I am Ayash Rath and this is my blog. I am a robotics graduate currently pursuing a master's in data science. My academic focus is on intelligent systems.
Outside of uni, my time is divided among several interests. I work on personal code projects and am a Linux enthusiast (not Arch btw, I use OpenSUSE Tumbleweed). I also play video games (usually JRPGs), and occasionally read books, and am an avid movie watcher. I also play guitar on my spare time (though I am not that good at it).
The website is built with Ghost using the theme Journal. I chose this theme intentionally, as I plan to use this site as a journal. The content will be a mix of topics I find interesting, all connected with a common thread - Tech and Sciences.
You can get in touch with me on LinkedIn, GitHub, Twitter/X or drop me an email at ayash.numpi@gmail.com.
Why num-pi was Chosen
While the name num-pi sounds like the Python library - NumPy, the inspiration was simpler. I wanted a domain name that includes Pi for the mathematical constant $\pi$ - a number I have always found fascinating (thanks in a large part to Matt Parker, aka Stand-up Maths). While pi.com was out of reach and numpi.com was already taken, I went with the hyphenated num-pi.com to mean "[The] Number Pi".
History
This isn't my first attempt at blogging - my first website and my second website (it is currently inactive). The main issue with these projects was inconsistency. I would fall behind on updates and tell myself that I didn't have anything worth sharing, and eventually, the sites became inactive. My commitment with this blog is to post a new article every weekend. The goal is to focus on the consistency of writing and sharing what I am learning, rather than waiting for one perfect topic.
Notes
Every article on this blog is written by me, not by anyone else and, more importantly, not by an AI. AI will certainly be used in the process of dishing out the final article (as not doing so would increase the time commitment I need to give to this site), but I will not be using AI to replace myself with it. The end result will remain an expression from me.
Articles will include a list of sources I have consulted. Any future corrections will be appended to the end of the relevant post.
